My Pet Peeve for the Letter U
Ulterior motive - doing something partly because you think
you will get some advantage from doing it.
I used to work with a person who had ulterior motives for
almost everything they said or did. She was actually a good friend or so I
thought, until one day I was no longer useful to them. She found she had bigger
fish to fry so I was left in her dust as she worked on furthering herself. People
who have ulterior motives are don’t care who they step on while they try to get
what they want by any means possible.
